Mamba

MambaThe Mamba turns 11 this year. While not even a blink in geological terms, 11 years is practically ancient in "sport kite years". The Mamba's longevity is especially noteworthy when you consider that its sail and bridle geometry are essentially unchanged from the very first prototype back in April of 2000.

New for 2011 are a couple updates to the standoff positions and bridle construction. The new standoff position gives the Mamba a little "crisper" feel, as well as making the technical tricks more accessible. The new bridle retains the same geometry, but simpfies the construction.

Why has the Mamba survived, while other Blue Moon kites have come and gone in the last 11 years?mamba Simple, it's still fresh, and still relevant. The Mamba is still being "discovered" by new generations of sport kite flyers, as it welcomes them to the "Blue Moon feel".

One of our good friends wrote this a few years ago - "I call the Mamba the Gold Standard of kites. The craftsmanship and pure flying joy of the Mamba is a tough standard that so far none have exceeded."

Mamba Update!!!

Ken McNeill came to the kite comp at Warren Dunes today. What a nice surprise. On top of that, he brought a revision to the Mamba with configurable standoff positions. The setting he had it on at the dunes was AMAZING. I've been in love with the Mamba since I flew the first prototype many moons ago. This definitely raises the bar. Ken: please, please, please put it into production.

I have worked at two different stores specializing in two-line stunt kites and have flown well in excess of 100 designs. The Mamba is hands down the best flying and best made kite I have ever flown and is well worth its deservedly high asking price. Ken's customer service is also first rate.

The Mamba is my first go-to kite and it has been since it came in my bag about 2 years ago. The build quality is top-notch. The feeling it brings when you fly it is said the best in one word- bliss. The Mamba is one of the smoothest flying kites I've flown. Also, the Trick-ability of the kite is awesome from being an older kite. It will roll up, and do all the modern tricks with the right inputs. Everything about the kite is awesome! I now have 6 Mambas (Moonie UL, 3 Standards, and 2 V2s) and I love them all. They're awesome- and you can never go wrong with being able to get a custom, solid flying kite for under 300 dollars. When you get one, you'll realize why it's so popular for so many flyers from the 1st second you launch it.

The Mamba is an excellent kite for flying to music. It's an "expressive" kite. I think the Mamba is one of the best looking kites out there, with an amazing range of panel layouts possible.

The Mamba has been our favorite all-around dual-line kite for a very long time. It has been perfect for pairs and individual flying for my husband and I.
