Mamba
The Mamba turns 11 this year. While not even a blink in geological terms, 11 years is practically ancient in "sport kite years". The Mamba's longevity is especially noteworthy when you consider that its sail and bridle geometry are essentially unchanged from the very first prototype back in April of 2000.
New for 2011 are a couple updates to the standoff positions and bridle construction. The new standoff position gives the Mamba a little "crisper" feel, as well as making the technical tricks more accessible. The new bridle retains the same geometry, but simpfies the construction.
Why has the Mamba survived, while other Blue Moon kites have come and gone in the last 11 years?
Simple, it's still fresh, and still relevant. The Mamba is still being "discovered" by new generations of sport kite flyers, as it welcomes them to the "Blue Moon feel".
One of our good friends wrote this a few years ago - "I call the Mamba the Gold Standard of kites. The craftsmanship and pure flying joy of the Mamba is a tough standard that so far none have exceeded."
